Eco

Nau mai, haere mai. New Brighton Bike & Surf originated through the strong belief that the land, ocean, air, and all its forms of life are precious. Protection of this biosphere must be integral with our actions. We too respect all cultures and the communities we operate within.

We value and uphold the Tiaki Promise to care for New Zealand now and for the country’s future generations. As visitors, you too can accept the wero (challenge) and also guard, protect and preserve our country, whilst enjoying its natural beauty.

With our business we like to walk the talk, so we:

  • Operate with electric e-bikes for our tours.
  • Offset our business carbon footprint by donating for the planting of native trees in Canterbury (Te Rahi O Tāne/Trees That Count).
  • Do regular clean-ups at the beach and estuary.
  • Are members of the Avon-Heathcote Estuary Ihutai Trust.
  • Are signed up to Tourism Industry Aotearoa’s 12 commitments in the areas of: Community, Economic, Environmental and Visitor Sustainibility.
  • Ben has been involved in a notable conservation project prior with DOC, for the preservation of the Jewelled Gecko.
